Mike Betts

As the Head of Learning and Skills for the City of London Police Economic Crime Academy, Mike’s career spans 33 years during which he has been involved in the investigation of serious and complex economic crime investigation. Mike has a Master’s Degree in Fraud Management with distinction from Middlesex University and is a qualified trainer. He has developed and delivered a number of fraud investigation learning programmes including the nationally recognised investigation of bribery programme. He recently assisted the Cabinet Office to develop the new Counter Bribery Standards, which are an integral part of the new HMG Counter Fraud Profession. He has extensive knowledge of fraud types, threats and was integral to the development of the Fraud Investigation Model which has been embedded throughout policing in response to the threat of fraud. He is the named author of the Blackstone’s publication Investigating Fraud and Economic Crime published in March 2017.
